A WINNING COMBINATION: SUPERB JAZZ, SCENERY AND BEER
Booking for 2014 Jennings Keswick Jazz Festival opens 11 November
Booking for the 23rd Jennings Keswick Jazz Festival will open on Mon 11 November. The Festival will be held from Thu 8 – Sun 11 May 2014 in various venues around Keswick, including Theatre by the Lake’s Main House and Studio and the popular Theatre Marquee in Crow Park.
The Festival has, over many years, established itself as one of the finest celebrations of traditional and mainstream jazz the UK has to offer. In 2014 it will welcome musicians from over both the mountains and the waves: international guests, well-loved musicians returning by popular demand and fresh new talent.
International artists include Europe’s legendary Hot Antic Jazz Band, the Netherlands’ storming young Oriental Jazz Band and gifted German reedsman Matthias Seuffert. Returning from New Orleans after star turns last year are world-class trumpeter Duke Heitger and charismatic top-trombonist Lucien Barbarin.
As always, the Festival will host a galaxy of UK talent too, including Amy Roberts, Ben Cummings, Ben Holder, George Huxley, Keith Nichols, Nicola Farnon, Spats Langham and Tom Kincaid. Rich Bennett and his Band are also back after last year’s hijinks.
Sat 10 May will once again see musicians serenading the town as the Jazz Parade takes to the streets of Keswick. All are welcome to attend this free event.
To accompany the music, the Festival will feature fascinating talks from Keith Nichols, John Hallam and Duke Heitger, which will immerse listeners in the lives and loves of the musicians. And for those who love to bop, GI Jive will be back with their fabulous dance workshops.
The full four-day ticket, with roving access to all events from Thursday to Sunday, is available from Mon 11 November for the early bird price of £99. Booking for single day tickets, the jazz talks and the dance workshops will open on Mon 13 January 2014.
Tickets can be booked online at www.keswickjazzfestival.co.uk or by calling the Box Office on 017687 74411. Tickets are already available for nine pre-festival jazz concerts at Theatre by the Lake, taking place between Sun 4 – Wed 7 May 2014.
